WINE MUSEUMS
Guided visits may be arranged throughout the year at the Wine Museums in Sierre (Rue Ste-Catherine 6) and Salgesch (Museumsplatz, 3970 Salgesch). The museums are open for unguided visits between March and November, Wednesday to Friday from 1400-1800 hrs and the weekend from 1000-1800 hours. Contact details are: +41274563525 or contact@museeduvin-valais.ch.
ROUTES
Conveniently, there is Route 72 called the Vineyard Trail. It is in two parts:
West Part. Martigny to Sion - 39.7 kms
East Part. Sion to Leuk - 55.3 kms (not all tarmaced)

Visiting the vineyards takes some planning, too much tasting can be unfortunate. If you have your own bicycles so much the better. If you wish to hire bicycles it is recommmended you call Yves at Alexsports in Crans Montana. It may seem strange not to be able to rent in Sierre but outlets that have tried to rent out bicycles have found it unprofitable. You may of course wish to drive, especially if one of your party is tea-total.

As the vineyards are in the Rhone Valley, personnel in the tourist offices of Val d'Anniviers are not necessarily very knowledgable. A visit to the tourist off in Sierre provided a list of fourteen vineyards; they are listed below divided into the West and East Parts of Route 72, those offering tasting 'degustation' are shown in bold.
